Communication Policy
The Federal Ministry of Labour and Economy has defined its E-Mail communication policy as follows.
E-Mail Policy
To ensure data security in E-Mail Communication with the Federal Ministry of Labour and Economy the ICT department has implemented suitable security measures.
BMAW does not accept virus and spam-suspicious E-Mail - both types are blocked without further warning.
For detailed Information on special items see below:
Adressformats for Organisational Units and Staff
Frequency of Checking Mails: Organisational mailboxes of BMAW are monitored on daily basis at minimum. The nomenclature is POST.Org_YY@bmaw.gv.at, where ORG have to be replaced by the Organisational Unit (without dashes) and YY have to be replaced by the year in which the current Federal Ministries Act came into force - compare our Organisation-Chart.
Staff of BMAW can be addressed via firstname.lastname@bmaw.gv.at.
Special characters in names are represented as two characters (ä=ae, ö=oe, ü=ue, ß=ss). Please refer to our Staff-Directory for exact names and correlation to Organisational Units.
Invalid E-Mail Attachments
For security reasons all following file types are strictly blocked, cause they may contain potential dangerous code.
Attachments of executable files (e.g.: .bat, .cgi, .cmd, .com, .cpl, .exe, .hta, .ink, .jar, .js/.jse, .ocx, .mdb, .mde, .msi, .reg, .scr, .sys, .url, .vb, .vbs, .wsc, .wsh, .wsv, .swf, etc.) and files with malicious code are not accepted.
Due to our "zero macro"-configuration, all macros (e.g. docm, xlsm, ...) and other active content in Office documents are blocked too.
These attachments are removed from the mail and the sender and, if applicable, the recipient receive a notification. The sender has to take care to remove such content from his message or attachment before sending - if absolutely necessary he has to provide the relevant content as web download.
Size Limit
For external E-Mails, the total size of incoming as well as outgoing e-mails is limited to 25 MB. In general, larger E-Mails are rejected and a notification will be sent to the sender and recipient.
Note: To avoid issues compress your attachements by ZIP or send them separately with several E-Mails. If this is not possible in a specific case, Ministry staff can send an IT request to find a proper solution.
