Austria's position worldwide

When it comes to international tourism receipts, Austria ranks on the 18th place worldwide (8th within the EU).

International Tourism Data Sources

The United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) holds the world's biggest online collection of tourism publications and statistics, provides the tourism community with up-to-date market intelligence and compiles and disseminates tourism statistics of countries all over the world. Data and facts on international tourism are mainly drawn from the UNWTO database.

Another important data source for Tourism in the European Union (EU) is Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU.

The OECD measures tourism developments within the OECD economies.

Data on receipts and expenditure, domestic, inbound and outbound tourism, enterprises and employment as well as on international tourism consumption are freely accessible though the OECD data portal.
